Like many, I formed my love of antiques through a passion for history and through watching a lot of the Antiques Roadshow with my parents in the 1980s; and like many I started buying and selling in a small way in my teenage years - primarily fans, vintage compacts, and anything small enough to not annoy my mother.
I started working professionally in the antiques world in 2011 at a local auction house in Chiswick, West London and later with a few valuable years at Sothebys.
For the last 6 years I have worked at leading film and tv prop hire companies advising set decorators and props buyers in the correct period set dressing and action props for many high profile film and tv productions, specialising in costume accessories, textiles, "smalls" set dressing and action props.
I started Tales to Tell Antiques in 2019 in response to an increasing demand for good quality beautiful action props that film and tv productions could purchase in addition to hiring - in addition to my own passion for antiques, for vintage costume and dressing up, and for anything with history that can tell a story.
